Great Schools with Exceptional Students

TheLINK region features two public school districts instructing more than 17,000 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 24:1.

Lee and Sumter counties operate 33 schools with a combined staff level of about 3,500.

There are 20 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, 4 high schools, and 2 Career and Technology Centers in the region.

Established in 2020, Liberty STEAM Charter is the first public charter school in Sumter County.

There are numerous private schools in TheLINK region, including both secular and religious schools. Wilson Hall School, Thomas Sumter Academy, and Lee Academy are examples of local secular schools, while Westside Christian Academy, St. Francis Xavier, and Sumter Christian School offer education with religious teachings.

Education That Prepares

The Sumter Career and Technology Center along with the Lee County Career and Technology Center offer education pathways to accelerate students into the workforce. Programs such as welding, mechatronics, and aerospace engineering are highly sought-after by students.

Higher Education 

More than 200,000 individuals within the 60 minute labor shed of TheLINK Region have degrees from institutions of higher learning. Associate, under-graduate, and graduate degrees can all be obtained here or within a short commute, making this region ideal for learning, leading and growing.
